21 Day Fix: Week 3/3 AND Miler Method #4: Week 1/6

Week-beginning Thoughts:

So, this week is going to be a bit interesting. I'm finishing up 21 Day Fix Extreme Real Time from Beachbody on Demand while also starting my fourth time through Miler Method. After my 6:08 PR mile earlier this summer, my training partner and I thought it would be fun to give the program another go in early fall, to take advantage of the cooler temps, and opted to actually sign up for the full program with Coaches Nick and Sierra Willis (instead of just repeating the plan I'd done with their training group back in 2016).

Miler Method Histories:
Roll the Tapes (a summary of #1 and #2)
6:08 (#3)

Since finishing our 10 days of 10 miles (10x10 Challenge) a couple weeks ago, I've had some knots in my lower calves, so I'm not really sure how this training cycle will go. I don't feel nearly as strong or healthy as I did going into MM#3 in June, but the weather's also better, and I've been doing a lot more strength/cross-training, so maybe it'll be good?

Just like last time(s), I modified the Miler Method plan a bit to suit my schedule. As written, the plan was:

Monday: rest
Tuesday: hills/strides
Wed: easy
Thurs: tempo
Fri: optional easy
Sat: track workout
Sun: long run

I'm modifying it to:

Monday: easy
Tuesday: hills/strides
Wed: rest
Thurs: track
Friday: optional easy
Sat: long run
Sun: tempo (probably with the stroller?)

Monday
Scheduled: 5-7mi easy
Did: 5.35mi easy run @ 9:07/mi avg, 0.17mi cool-down walk, 21 DFX: Day 15- Upper Fix, 3mi bike ride with kid
I was a little nervous about my calves this morning, and wore my compression sleeves as a "security blanket" for the run. I'd planned on doing an easy 3 and, if I f felt great, I'd continue for another 2 to get to the lower end of my scheduled workout. I ended up feeling GREAT and did a little over 5, before cooling down with a walk. Hooray, awesome weather.

When I got home, I knocked out my 21DFX workout while my kiddo played outside with caterpillars. SO nice that it was cool enough to get a workout done outside.

...then finished the day out with an easy 5.6mph bike ride with my potato. That was awesome.

Tuesday
Did: 21 DFX Day 16- Plyo, Core Circuit, 6.29mi @ 9:58/mi avg (3x60s hills + 4x30s hills)

Got up at 4am, which left me precious spare time to get through:
1) brushing my teeth and pulling my hair back
2) prepping my water bottle (shoulda done that the night before)
3) a 30min 21 DFX workout
4) the core circuit

and be out the door to meet my training buddies for a 4:50am 10KTuesday.

...and then I forgot I hadn't input my workout into my watch.

...and then I realized I didn't know how to do that with my new (Polar) watch.

...so I wore both the Polar and my old Garmin (which got the workout programmed into it). :P

I didn't feel super confident in my calves today, so I kept the effort easy, especially since we hit the big hill in the neighborhood near the park.

60s repeats:
1) 0.12 @ 8:34/mi
2) 0.11 @ 8:45/mi
3) 0.11 @ 8:44/mi

30s repeats:
1) 0.06 @ 8:32/mi
2) 0.05 @ 9:21/mi (thought I felt something in my calf)
3) 0.06 @ 9:05/mi (did feel something in my calf, but it moved downward as I ran, so I felt better)
4) 0.06 @ 8:06/mi (had training partner next to me as we did our last 30s one together)

Nutrition wasn't the greatest. I struggle with food every time I have to go into the office. I never bring enough :P

Breakfast: Larabar
Post-run: Greek yogurt smoothie, protein mix + coffee
Morning: coffee w/whole milk, overnight oats (greek yogurt, strawberries, oats)
Snack: KIND protein bar
Lunch: spinach salad with roma tomato, carrots, celery, corn, and pork shoulder plus apple
Snack: roasted veggies (cauliflower, zucchini, celery, squash)
Dinner: roasted veggies with pork shoulder, chardonnay
Evening: a couple taco shells, peanut butter oat bar, deli meat, and some wheat thins  :P

Wednesday
Scheduled: Rest
Did: 21 DFX: Dirty 30, 2mi walk
Got up and got my 30min workout in, and then enjoyed a morning walk on the phone with a friend before work.

Thursday
Scheduled: 10-15min WU, 10min tempo, 5min rest, 200/300/400/600/2x200 (with 2min rest between), 10-15min CD
Did: as written (6.51mi @ 9:01/mi avg), 21 DFX Pilates, Strength Circuit
I love track days. I wasn't really sure how today was going to go, but was still looking forward to getting back into workouts. Today was a ladder at mile pace (6:00 goal)

Tempo: 1.38mi in 10min
200 0:39.8 (way too fast-- should've been 0:45)
300 1:05.4 (too fast- should've been 1:07.5)
400 1:29.4 (good- should've been 1:30)
600 2:30 (I took the "Do this all at mile pace (you can go slower on the 600 if you're feeling tired)" direction from my coahes a little too liberally)
200 0:46.6 heh... yeah, this was slow
200 0:43.0 stronger finish = yay

It felt nice to be back on the track, and I liked the variety in the ladder (though the 600 was definitely hard). Considering it's been a couple months since I've done any speedwork (with a focus on distance, via the 10x10 challenge, and a couple weeks off from running for my calves), I felt good about where I was at today. Plus, it's always great to go into a hard day of work already having accomplished something hard before 6am. ;)

The evening was a bit of a struggle for me. Miler Method workouts + my actual WORK mean I'm struggling to fit in the 30min workouts from 21 Day Fix. I'll be glad when this week is over and I'm "only" doing Miler Method for my workouts. I got the Pilates done after the kids went to bed, knocked out my Strength Circuit (from Miler Method) and then headed to bed.

Friday
Scheduled: 4-6mi recovery run
Did: 4.05mi @ 10:05/mi avg, 21DFX Lower
Uggggghhhh. Here's how my morning went:

2:15am start hearing baby noises
2:35am decide baby is definitely awake; get up, feed/change/put baby back to sleep
2:50am opt to go to the basement in an attempt to sleep without sleeping cat/husband noises
3:15am hear baby crying, but know my husband's on call for that
3:15-3:59am continue to hear baby crying, be unable to sleep or even relax
3:59am baby stops crying and appears to be back asleep
4:00am my alarm goes off

I'd planed on knocking out my 21 DFX workout, then heading out for a ~4mi run. That meant I'd need to get up at 4:00 if I was going to be done, showered, and ready by 6am when my family is up.

...but SO TIRED.

I reset my alarm for 4:30 and decided I'd skip the 21DFX workout this morning (which meant I'd have to do it in the evening, UGH), and then, within 5 minutes, the baby was making more noises.

I had two options:
1) continue attempting to sleep, which guaranteed the workout wouldn't happen, but I might function better at work... if I actually got to sleep
2) accept defeat on the sleep front and go workout, something I could control completely

I opted for #2, and enjoyed a nice recovery run, going super easy.

Did lower fix after dinner, and was very grateful to go to bed knowing I only have two more of these workouts.

Saturday
Scheduled: 8-10mi easy, 21 DFX: Day 20, core circuit
Did: 10mi easy @ 9:57/mi avg, 1mi walk, 21 DFX: Cardio, core circuit
I've had a pretty good track record this year of 10mi (or more) runs every weekend, but took the last two off due to calf issues. It felt nice to be back on the greenway with my husband pushing the kids in the double stroller for what's become our Saturday morning ritual. I had a few times where my calves felt a little tight, but nothing that lingered long enough for concern.

Used the baby's second nap of the day to knock out the 20th 21DFX workout (cardio), and finished off with the MM core circuit before watching the first quarter of the Clemson football game.... and promptly falling asleep.

Sunday
Scheduled: 15-20min WU, 10min tempo, 10min CD, 21 DFX: Day 21,
Did: 21 DFX Yoga, workout as scheduled + 1mi walk with stroller
Baby woke up at a normal hour today (4:30), which meant I had an easy feed/change cycle before having about an hour to myself (before everyone woke up for the actual start to the day). While I enjoyed finishing off 21 DFX with yoga, I'll also be grateful for the extra time next week to do other things, like knock my run out early, sleep, enjoy some coffee and a book in my reading nook, or, more likely, pack my lunch for work. :P

I wasn't sure what to expect out of my tempo run. I'm normally around a 7:30 pace, but had two "other" factors today:
1) I was pushing a stroller, albeit "just" the single with the baby
and
2) after a sneak peak of fall, the humidity is back in full swing. I hadn't even left my driveway before the weight of it felt heavy all over my body. Ugh.

I ended up doing slightly more than 10min of tempo due to a missed lap button press on my watch, but was around a 7:47. Not bad. I probably should have run faster, though, since I definitely felt like I could've kept going at that pace for awhile... Oh well. Lesson learned for next week!

gorgeous morning at the river

Total Weekly Mileage: 36.6

Week-ending Thoughts:
  • I'm proud of myself for sticking it out for all 21 days of 21 Day Fix Extreme. It's a nice program, and I think I'll come back and repeat it again when I'm not also in the middle of a running training cycle.
  • It's nice to have an online training community again.
  • I think the Atlanta humidity is worse now than it ever was earlier this summer. :P
  • I'm not excited about having to go back into the office full-time this coming week, and worry a bit about how the extra stress and time spent showering/doing my hair/getting dressed/packing ALL THE FOOD (no, seriously, my biggest concern to going back in-office is just figuring out how to prep/pack all the food I need to get through a day and how many reusable containers I'm going to have to wash each night) will impact life and training... but "I've had worse".

Hope my calf is better this week.

Gonna log my containers here each day for accountability, too.

5 Green (1c vegetables)
3 Purple (1c fruits)
5 Red (3/4c protein)
4 Yellow (1/2c carb)
1 Orange (1oz seeds)

Nutrition was great today.

Snack: greek yogurt with oats, strawberries, and honey, sunflower seeds (1 R, 1/2 Y, 1P, 1T, 1O)
Lunch: spaghetti squash, ground chicken, tomatoes, peas (2G 1 R)
Snack: granola bar (1Y, 1/2 B)
Dinner: asparagus, spaghetti squash, peas, mild sausage, shredded wheat (3 G, 1 R)

5G, 3P, 4R, 4Y, 1B, 1O, 3T
Total Calories: 1930 (net 1540)

Tuesday
Did: 10KTuesday @ 9:44/mi avg, 21DFX Upper Fix
Man, it was weird to have to set an alarm for today (I've gone without alarms for the better part of the past ten days), but so worthwhile to get out and run with my friends again. Right calf (the problem one) felt fine, but my left one seems a bit tight at my achilles... looks like I need to hit that one hard with the same rehab I did last week to the right :P

Breakfast: Larabar, 2 eggs with shredded wheat, protein coffee (1 P, 1/2 B, 2 R, 2 Y, 1/2B)
Snack: skinny 1 pump PSL, larabar (2 Y, 1 P, 1/2 B)
Lunch: carrots, asparagus, 2 eggs, mild greenwise sausage (2 G, 2 R)
Snack: apple (1 P)
Dinner: tomatoes, asparagus, meat of some sort

2 G, 3 P, 4 R, 4 Y, 1 B

Wednesday
Did: 3.5mi run, 21DFX Cardio
Well, crap. Looks like my left calf is now angry with me... tight knot in the same place on it after this morning's run. At least I can still do things and it's not strained.

but such a pretty view!

Didn't record food today...here. I mean, I always do MyFitnessPal

Thursday
Did: 2.5mi walk, 21DFX Yoga, 10min HardCORE
Up at 2am with a screaming baby + calf = started morning out with a 4:30am walk with a friend. Did yoga, went to work, then did abs in the evening. I feel like there was something I wanted to say about this workout... but can't remember.

Hit my calf knot hard with massage.

Friday
Did: 21DFX Dirty 30
Good workout in the morning, and then early to work. I can tell I exhausted my triceps because I had to switch from my lightest (5lb) weights to a full water bottle for the last round of kickbacks, and still felt it.

Breakfast: smoothie (2 G, 2 P, 2 R), coffee (1 Y 1/2 B)
Snack: Larabar (1 P, 1 B)
Lunch: ham (1/2R), carrots (1 G), broccoli and asparagus (1 G)
Snack: apple (1 P)

4 G, 3 P, 2.5 R, 1 Y, 1.5B.. plus whatever I had for dinner

Saturday
Did: 21DFX Plyo, 4ish mi walk
Well, my calves did well enough with plyometrics (jumping), so that's a good sign?

Didn't track containers today, but feel like I did decently with all the veggies I ate and limiting carbs.

Sunday
Did: 21 DFX Pilates, 2x1.5mi walk, 5K stroller run @ 9:14/mi avg, 1mi walk
Pilates is not my jam, but it seems to be good for me. I feel like I'm doing a great job strength training and cross training with this 21DFX stuff, and it's been really nice to have a stable "plan", i.e. doing 30min workouts each day.

Did a family walk to/from a destination, which felt really good, and then I tested my calf with an easy stroller run in the afternoon. I was really pleased by how good things felt. I kept moving post-run with a walk to cool-down, but felt good afterwards too.

Total Weekly Mileage: 13.9 (well, it's almost double last week?)

Week-ending Thoughts:
  • I'm supposed to start Miler Method tomorrow (again), but I don't feel like my legs are strong enough to take that sort of intensity. I'm debating holding off for another week (to let myself get one solid week of easy mileage without any concerns before going into training) or just taking it easy for week 1 and kind of half-a**ing my way through it.

Miler Method: Week 5/6

Week-beginning Thoughts:
Wooo, week 5!

Monday
Scheduled: 10min WU, 2x5min tempo/2min rest, 6x30s @ MP, 15min CD
Did: as scheduled = 5.41mi @ 8:53/mi avg, plus 5mi treadmill desk walking during conf call
I kind of like my Mondays. I get up at 3 or 4am, whenever the baby wakes, get a few hours of work in, then do my run after drop-off, before heading back for another round of work.

Today, I decided to run at the river since it's flat and peaceful. It felt a little cool, so I opted for a shirt this morning, something I haven't done in quite awhile. Within the first mile of my warm-up, I regretted the decision.

This workout didn't seem like much at first glance, but it ended up being pretty intense. Once I started, I felt like a machine, just rolling straight from one interval to the next.

Tempo:
    7:15/mi,
    7:29/mi

MP Strides:
    5:51
6:52 (heard a "too slow" beep and assumed the interval was done-- that was wrong)
    6:06
    6:25
    6:17
    6:01

Tuesday
Did: 6.36mi easy @ 9:56/mi avg
Celebrated my 10,000th mile since I started tracking this running thing back a decade ago. How fitting it happened on a 10KTuesday ;)

Image may contain: 2 people, selfie, closeup and outdoor

Wednesday
Did: 40min various Beachbody workouts, 1.25mi treadmill walk
Did a short lunch workout of lifting and such, then finished up the day with a working treadmill desk walk

Thursday
Did: 10min WU, 10min tempo, 5min rest, 4x400m/90s, CD = 6.13mi @ 9:35/mi avg
Ooh, this was a fun workout. The tempo went by pretty fast (1.4mi = 7:09/mi avg). I felt strong.

The 400s were mentally grueling. I started off with the goal of hitting 90s (a 6:00 pace). If I can hit those with 90s recoveries, I thought, maybe I can go juuuust a little slower for the mile, doing them all back-to-back-to-back-to-back.

I tracked myself at the 100m marks for each of the 400s, and was pleased when my first split was closer to 20s (as opposed to the 22.5 that would equate to a 90s 400m). I felt strong each time, but also felt like I didn't really have much left in the tank if I'd had to hold the pace instead of enjoying a 90s recovery. I had to remind myself on each of them "there are only FOUR; you don't get a slack-off one; make them all COUNT".

So, they turned out pretty well, especially comparing them to previous rounds through this same workout.

2020 2018 2017
400m #1 84 82 87
400m #2 87 85 88
400m #3 87 93 90
400m #4 88 91 90
Mile                   ?            6:31        6:19

Friday
Did: 30min Beachbody workout, 5mi @ 9:32/mi avg, 15min yoga
Got up, fit in a lifting/boxing workout, and then pushed hard on a deadline for work, which was at noon. After that, I treated myself to a lunch run. I wasn't terribly excited about running in the heat, but I ended up absolutely loving it. I've been stressing so much lately about the state of the world, and running 5 sun-filled, hot miles was super cathartic. I just changed my attitude about sun running, and leaned into the heat, letting it warm my body, soak my skin, and make me feel alive.

Saturday
Did: 10.44mi @9:32/mi avg, plus 3.25mi @ 13:37/mi avg run alongside kid biking.... soooo, half marathon?
Man... today was a tough one. My husband needed to cut the run short, so we did a 6mi ONB and then he took the kids home while I continued on. The first 6mi had been fine, but my watch crapped out on me (AGAIN) right around the time I split from my family... which meant I had to go by memory to make up a good 4ish mile route that would get me to 10mi total and, more importantly, end at home.

I made it, but those last four miles without water (I normally keep a water bottle in the stroller on Saturday runs) were touuuuugh. When I got home, I felt so spent. It's been a long week of training, workouts, life/work/pandemic stress, and I'm definitely feeling it-- not in an "OMG, I can't handle this" way, but just a really pleasant, strong, and accomplished feeling.

...and then we went out for round 2, because the oldest wanted to bike. I ran alongside and got the fartlek of my life.

Sunday
Did: 12min WU, 6x30s hill repeats, 15min CD = 3.62mi @ 9:46/mi avg, plus 1.5mi walking

Pretty good workout today. The 30s hills felt tough.

Total Weekly Mileage: 40.1mi (running)

Week-ending Thoughts:
  • I feel like I definitely worked this week. Looking forward to next Saturday's.

The PREP: Week 4/4

Week-beginning Thoughts:
uh... idk, man. There's so much stress in my life right now and I'm just so beyond grateful to have a healthy coping mechanism in exercise.

I guess this is the last week of The PREP, so I should feel some sort of "finality", but I don't. I dislike how this program has just been "repeat these videos X times" instead of the "real time" progression of LIIFT4. Looking forward to the next thing.

Monday
Did: The PREP - Total Body Push/Pull, 4.6mi with stroller @ 8:56/mi avg, 4+mi on the treadmill desk, walking
Today's PREP workout was relatively enjoyable. I feel really proud when I can do dumbbell push-up rows, and even better when my baby mimics me doing thrusters by putting his own hands up and down. :)

Followed this up with a run at the river, assuming our cleaners were coming in the morning and we'd need to be out of the house. Definitely enjoyed stretching my legs a bit. Even with the stroller, I kept a faster-than-usual pace.

...but then the cleaners ended up coming later, so we were relegated to the basement for the WHOLE DAY. This meant LOTS of treadmill desk walking.

Nutrition: good
Well, being stuck in the basement all day meant I didn't really snack much. In fact, by lunch, all I'd had was liquids. :P
Breakfast: protein shake
Mid-Morning/Post-run: spinach/kale/berries smoothie
Snack: coffee and coconut milk
Lunch: cauliflower with cheese
Dinner: cauliflower, salmon, watermelon, beer, and a few DIY LARABalls (dates+natural PB+dark chooclate+almond flour)

=
Tuesday
Did: The PREP- Strength and Power, 6.23mi run @ 9:49/mi avg
I actually really enjoyed today's PREP workout-- lots of compound moves in quick succession that had me sweating midway through my first set. Woo!

10KTuesday was a bear, though. I opted for a new route that was hill-acious. The route itself wasn't too bad, but, man, oh, man, the humidity. It is summertime in Georgia for sure!!!

Nutrition: yep

Pre-run: honey stinger waffle, 'cause I saw it in my running cube while putting my safety vest on
Post-run: spinach/kale/berries/banana/protein powder/greek yogurt smoothis
Snack: coffee and coconut milk, nuts
Lunch: 4oz pork shoulder, broccoli, watermelon
Mid-afternoon Snack: protein shake + dry pasta (soooo hungry today-- battled it off with water, though)
Dinner: 1c steamed green beans, 4oz sockeye salmon, 5oz chardonnay, 1 shot Firefly vodka

= Wednesday
Did: 40min Yoga Flow, 25min HIp-hop Dance, The PREP: Cardio & Core
OMG, I had such a great night of sleep. It's amazing to wake up on my own, instead of to a screaming infant. Enjoyed a nice, easy morning of yoga at 4:30am, followed by a quick cardio dance workout. I may still try to run sometime today, but kind of enjoyed doing something a little different this morning.

Wanted to run later in the day, but ended up having to stay home with baby during a thunderstorm, so I got my PREP workout from tomorrow done and figure tomorrow can be a PREP "rest day" with a 100% run focus.

Nutrition: meh

Post-workout: 2 scoops protein powder, 1/2c unsweetened coconut milk, iced coffee
Lunch: 1c green beans, 1 slice whole wheat toast, 2 eggs
Snack: nuts
Dinner: 1c green beans, watermelon (lots), 3/4c ground turkey, 1/4c no sugar added marinara, 1/2c whole grain pasta

Thursday
Did: 5.5mi run @ 9:54/mi avg
OMG, my baby slept through the night. What bliss! Woke up at 4:30am to a cry, but there was silence again after I'd prepped a bottle, so I waited a bit, and then headed out for a run. My legs felt tired, so I just took it super easy today, choosing to do a hilly route at my relaxed pace instead of anything else. Days like today make me wonder how I'll deal with having an actual running training plan again whenever that starts (which looks like Monday... lol)

...oh, that's why this morning's run was so tough. I'm sick. Definitely felt fatigued by mid-afternoon and was pretty useless tonight.

Nutrition:
I don't really remember. Checked my tracker and I was one carb over, but good on total calories and other containers.

Friday
Did: The PREP: Isometrics
Woke up feeling okay-ish, and did The PREP. This was a good workout to do today since it was low impact, just slow and strong. I kind of wanted to go run later in the day, but never felt quite up to it. Ended up napping in the afternoon, feeling super sluggish, and just sleeping/being uesless from about 5pm through 6am. Boo

Nutrition: blergh
Whenever I'm sick, I like eating crunch carby things. Today was no exception. I had some shredded wheat, Cheerios, saltines, and smoothies... then after a failed attempt to sleep in the early evening, got up and finished the day with a sammich. Over on calories and totally off on containers for the day, but, eh, sick.

Saturday
Did: The PREP- Crucible, 3mi run @ 8:51/mi avg, 30min Yoga
I really, really wanted to join my family on the ten mile run this morning. We've done it EVERY WEEKEND for the past few months.

...but even waking up and feeling okay-ish, I knew going out for a ten mile run after feeling so blergh for the past few days was a dumb idea. So I stayed home and rested some more. I hate resting.

I decided I felt good enough to try my workout video and, if that went well, I'd let myself go out for a walk/run. Workout video felt great, so I headed out the door afterwards for some miles.

I really did try to keep myself at an easy pace... but was already running a low-8 when I got to the end of the neighborhood.

Slow. Down. I told myself. Keep it easy.

First mile split: 8:51. Oops

I focused on just leaning forward, engaging my arms, and breathing calmly, running at a comfortable pace.

Second split: 8:55.

Okay, at this point I decided I was running easy, and that, hopefully, this meant my body had recovered from whatever crap I'd been down with yesterday. That said, I wasn't going to let myself go more than 3mi. If I felt good the rest of the day, after this run and the workout, then maaaaaaaaybe I'd let myself do a long run tomorrow.

Final split: 8:47.

Nutrition:
Breakfast: one HB egg, iced coffee with milk and protein powder
Mid-morning: asparagus
Lunch: pork shoulder in a spinach wrap, apple
Mid-afternoon: greek yogurt with berries, Sweet Tea Vodka
Dinner: pork chop with from-scratch hummus topping, broccoli, Summer Shandy

=
Sunday
Did: 10.2mi run @ 9:26/mi avg, 45min Yoga Sculpt, 1.5mi double stroller walk, ~1mi walk/run while my oldest balance biked along the greenway
Today was the first day I ran with anyone outside of my family in three months. For someone who was used to running pretty much every run with a teammate before this pandemic, that's significant. I've been having a hard time lately with the lack of forward progress and consistent isolation brought about by the pandemic, so my husband and I agreed that my resuming running with a training partner was within our "acceptable risk". My teammate and I agreed to stay distanced from one another, which meant one of us was often running in the travel lane while the other was on the sidewalk, but, since we run at 5am, it wasn't a safety risk.

It was really, really nice to run with a teammate again. Plus, we got started on our next team challenge together, a virtual cross-country relay race: The Great American 5000. We've got a team of eight taking on a 5000km (~3000mi) course over the next three months. It's not quite the overnight Ragnar relays we've done in the past together, but it's some sort of social/camaraderie thing to sustain everyone throughout this social distancing/no-in-person-races season.

Hey, we're winning!
(this only lasted until the other teams woke up... lol)

I didn't really feel like doing The PREP's "Range and Repair" workout, which is basically just stretching muscles I don't really get much out of stretching. Instead, I took the kids for a double stroller walk through the neighborhood, older one for a bike ride along the greenway, and then did some more intense yoga on my back deck-- got the stretching in plus some nice upper body work on crow and firefly poses.

bonus: I had a little yogi doing everything with me :)

Week-ending Thoughts:
  • I'll do a standalone The PREP write-up with more detail, but the short of it is I'm glad to be done with that program. I don't think I got much out of the workouts, but the nutrition focus was key this round.
  • It's really nice to have a "team" again for running. Even though our race just started today, I'm already so happy to have our Instagram posts, Facebook group banter, and Strava shares
  • I had a couple days affected by illness, and not being able to work out the way I wanted to really took a huge toll on my mental health/overall well-being and mindset. As always, I'm grateful for my health and the ability to keep doing what I do. Hooray for healthy coping mechanisms
