2 Weeks 'til Peachtree

Week-Beginning Thoughts:

Blergh. Sickness.

Monday
Did: 30min treadmill walk, PT
At least I'm coughing up lighter yellow crap from my chest today...

Tuesday
Did: 1hr treadmill walk
My cough is slowly moving from my chest into just my throat. Hooray. Still took it easy today and skipped chorus to spare my chorusmates this barking, hacking phlegm... also, pretty sure if I tried to sing I'd lose my voice again.

Wednesday
Did: 1hr treadmill walk, PT
Today is the first day in like two weeks where I've wanted coffee. I think I'm on the upswing. Funny that I said that this time last week too, before I got hit by round 2, though...

Thursday
Did: 30min MBF workout, 1mi @ 9:44/mi avg
Ready to try this workout thing again. I'd planned on doing a morning run, but timing didn't work out, so I did a Muscle Burns Fat sample workout instead. It felt nice to move again, and the jumping around helped clear more crap through my nose/throat. I'd wanted to do an easy 5K, but between timing, weather, and not wanting to push, I opted for just a mile.

Friday
Did: 2mi @ 9:34/mi avg, then 2mi with 2min run/1min walk @ 11min avg
Wanted to do a morning run, but had to work today. I did NOT want to run when I finally finsihed up responsibilities this afternoon, but told myself "you're healthy enough, get out there". I planned on a 5K, but decided to do my 4mi route instead and switch to walk/run for the back half. Legs are SOOOOO sore from yesterday's lifting, but it feels nice to feel sore. Definitely still fighting a minor cold with a runny nose, but much improved.

Saturday
Did: 3.13mi @ 9:53/mi avg plus 3mi walking around zoo
First run with my voice and training partner in a month. The first mile felt really hard and I wasn't sure I'd make it 5K, but things got better for mile 2. Ultimately, I probably could have gone further, but it wasn't going to be fun, so I stopped... and then walked a ton with kiddo at the zoo.

Sunday
Did: 4.56mi with stroller @ 9:58/mi avg
This felt hard and I had to convince myself to do as many miles as I did, but I'm working back from bronchitis, so I guess it's to be expected.

Total Weekly Mileage: 12.8mi run (~11mi walk)

Week-ending Thoughts:
Blergh to bronchitis/sickness. I'm back up to 17% of the year being sidelined due to illness, but it's still a far cry from last year's 50%.

3 Weeks 'til Peachtree

Week-Beginning Thoughts:

Blergh. Sickness.

Monday
Did: nada
Headache over night, slight cough, but good enough to go to work.

Tuesday
Did: 2mi walk, chorus
Took nyquill overnight and still work up with headache and slight cough. I could feel my voice starting to go within the first bit of warm-ups at chorus and just lip synced the rest of the evening. I've learned that lesson before... hoping my voice doesn't go. :/

Wednesday
Did: nada
Worked, vocal rest. I've got a nasty occasional barking cough, and the headache came back in the afternoon. Advil took care of it, and I'm hoping this is the upswing.

Thursday
Did: 3.17mi @ 9:30/mi avg
Woke up feeling good enough to go for a silent run with my TP, whom I haven't seen in nearly a month. Run felt good, despite a few coughs.

Friday
Did: 4.07mi @ 9:02/mi avg
Felt good enough to run this morning, but had a pretty disgusting sputum-y cough and splitting headache/fatigue mid-morning. Diagnosis: acute bronchitis. Guess I'm not running until I get over this...

Saturday
Did: 3.17mi stroller walk <15min/min, PT
Keeping my cardio load down while my lungs recover and hack up all kinds of junk, but getting out there and staying active.

Sunday
Did: 4.1mi stroller walk <15min/mi, PT
Another stroller walk.

Total Weekly Mileage: 7.2mi run (9.2mi walk)

Week-ending Thoughts:
Well, I should be nicely tapered for Peachtree... heheh

4 Weeks 'til Peachtree-- and a helluva week it was :D

Week-Beginning Thoughts:

In Chicago all week for a structural engineering event. Here we GOOOOOOOOO

Monday
Did: 4.09mi @ 8:53/mi avg
After yesterday's attempt at finding a way to greenway failed, I opted for some residential neighborhood running near the hotel. That was definitely the way to go, and check out that pace. Hooray cool temps and flat routes.

Tuesday
Scheduled: 10KTuesday
Did: 6.47mi @ 8:48/mi avg plus 1.5mi walking
I did NOT want to do neighborhood running for this one, so I took a shuttle to the nearest L station, bought a pass ($10), took the train downtown (an hour), and ran around my favorite Chicago routes that I've run SO many times and just love.

Had a bit of "dead butt syndrome" and struggled the back half of the run, but still had a great time.

Wednesday
Did: 4.03mi @ 9:15/mi avg plus 15min lifting/PT
Woke up kinda tired with a stuffy right nostril, but enjoyed neighborhood running. Worried I might be getting sick since I had a headache and neck ache most of the day...

Thursday
Did: 3.25mi @ 9:16/mi avg, plus 15min lifting/PT
Wasn't sure if I should run this morning or not, since I woke up with the left nostril stuffy and a bit of a "full head/tired body" kinda feeling. Opted to get out and move and then walk if I wanted to. The run felt good, but I definitely think I'm coming down with something. Glad to be coming home today.

Friday
Did: nada
Negative COVID test, no fever, but definitely having a lot of body aches and head aches.

Saturday
Did: 3.27mi @ 9:55/mi avg with stroller
Woke up a bit tired, but decided it might just be that I need to go move and opted for a stroller run with my littlest. That didn't last. I could tell it wasn't the right call within about a mile. I was able to function most of the rest of the day, including an hour in the pool with my kiddos in the afternoon, but got hit by a hard headache and body aches in the evening.

Sunday
Did: nada, rested all day
At least it's not COVID? Second negative test today.

Total Weekly Mileage: 21.1

Week-ending Thoughts:
Hopefully this illness is short-lived...

5 Weeks 'til Peachtree

Week-Beginning Thoughts:

So much for a fun beach week. The weather is forecast to be 60s, cloudy, rainy, and windy ALL freaking week. Blergh.

Monday
Did: 4.29mi on beach @ 9:27/mi avg
Blergh.

Tuesday
Scheduled: 10KTuesday
Did: 6.23mi @ 9:20/mi avg plus 30min dance workout
Bleh.

Wednesday
Did: 2.16mi @ 9:28/mi avg, plus ~4mi walking through amusement park, plus 30min bodyweight workout

Thursday
Did: 7mi walking
Slept in today, but got 4mi stroller walking in with the cousin crew and another 3 in later while making phone calls.

Friday
Did: 5.37mi @ 9:12/mi avg
This run felt good. It's the first time all week I've run into the wind first, and then got to feel a tailwind on the closing mileage.

Saturday
Did: 10.15mi @ 9:18/mi avg
Of course the day we LEAVE the beach house it's sunny and warm... This run happened at my in-laws since I'm staying here a night before a work trip.

Sunday
Did: airport walking, 4.07mi @ 8:39/mi avg
Glorious day of sleeping in, reading in the airport, and then attempting to find the greenway trail near my Chicago hotel.

this road was a deathtrap, but it was the only way to the greenway

Total Weekly Mileage: 32.3

Week-ending Thoughts:
Proud of making what I made happen happen.

6 Weeks 'til Peachtree

Week-Beginning Thoughts:

This is a stressful week with a lot of life-stuff: last week of school (and all the associated things parents need to be at/do), kid's first sports tryouts (multiple evenings in a row, too), and trying to get things set for summer vacation.

Monday
Scheduled: walk or MBF
Did: 2mi treadmill @ 9:37/mi avg
Stressful day trying to fit in a kid's end-of-year class party in the middle of the work day, then leave early for soccer tryouts. Got a few miles on the treadmill, though.

Tuesday
Scheduled: 10KTuesday
Did: 6.3mi @ 8:57/mi avg
The crew dubbed this a "rage run" with how stressed I am this week for various reasons, and that was 100% accurate. I really leaned into the feeling of pushing myself pace-wise and being able to hit some "solid miles". No arch pain/soreness during.

Wednesday
Scheduled: 10mi easy
Did: 4mi with 4x400 = 4.37mi @ 9:36/mi avg, PT
I woke up not wanting to do this run, but, every Wednesday, I wake up tired from a late Tuesday at chorus and don't want to run. Then, by the time I've dropped kiddo off at school, I'm lamenting not putting on my run clothes so I can swing by the greenway.

Today, I told myself just to put my clothes on, and that I could decide what I actually wanted after school drop-off.

I went to the greenway.

It's been so long, though, since I used the workout feature on my watch, I forgot to set it up properly. It beeped after my 1mi warm-up, went through 2 intervals of 0.25mi on / 3min recovery nicely... and then went to the CD since I didn't change the default number of intervals. Rather than start/stop my watch, I just manually watched to hit the 3rd and 4th intervals. Everything felt gooooood.

It was hard, but it was so nice to feel that challenge again, where I didn't want to do it, but knew I physically could.

GPS splits:
1:50
1:57
1:54
1:54

Thursday
Scheduled: 5mi easy
Did: 6.18+4 = 10.18mi @ 9:39/mi avg
With upcoming travel, I didn't want the stress of having to fit in a double-digit run this weekend, so I decided to stress myself out by doing it today, on the last day of school.

I met my TP for our usual 4:45am start, but we added a mile today so I would have less than half the mileage remaining to do solo. My right arch was definitely sore today, but I enjoyed the mileage and felt strong/healthy. Bonus: my last mile was just a little over a 9min pace.

Friday
Planned: nada
Did: 2mi walk
Life was busy today.

Saturday
Scheduled: idk
Did: 6.04mi @ 9:24/mi avg
Fun stroller run on a pancake flat route.

Sunday
Scheduled: -
Did: 5.04mi @ 9:09/mi avg
We're on a "Beach Vacation", but the weather sucks. In the middle of a nor'easter with drizzle and 20mph winds. Bright side: this was the first time I've ever felt the wind at my back pushing me faster?

Total Weekly Mileage: 33.9

Week-ending Thoughts:
Proud of making what I make happen happen.
