Peachtree Training: Week 5/12

Week-beginning Thoughts:
Woooooo, vacation is coming!

Monday
Did: rest

Tuesday
Did: 8.02mi @ 10:36/mi avg, Big 5
Really nice easy 8mi to start the day. I'm not training for anything right now, but just felt like getting a little extra weekday mileage in to maintain my mpw while enabling a bit of "slacking" this weekend in Florida.

Wednesday
Did: 4mi @ 10:49/mi avg, Big 3
After waking up at 1:21am screaming in pain thanks to a pregnancy-induced Charley horse in my calf, and then struggling to get back to sleep due to cats who think their litter box is a sandbox to play in, my 4am alarm came too early.

I didn't want to cut mileage, but also didn't want to have to run extra after my teammates were done. Solution: save the 30min of drive time and run solo.

Running solo sucks. I swear, if I didn't have FOMO on all the fun conversations and social time with my teammates, I would not be running nearly this much (especially not pregnant). Today was one of those days where I had to dig deep for motivation, and remind myself of the reasons I'd regret not running later:

I had lunch plans with a friend and always feel better about eating out when I've run

I would have zero time to "make up" mileage later

due to other commitments, I'm already not running M and F this week, so skipping today would mean I'd only run four days this week

I'd have to run longer this weekend in order to keep the same weekly mileage total

there may come a time, sooner than I'd like, where running isn't comfortable or fun, and not running now feels like taking my health and physical abilities for granted

So I got up, got dressed, and got out the door for four solo miles before 5am.

...and I feel better for having done so.
Thursday
Did: 1WU + 4x1200m/400 + 400/400 + 1CD = 6.69mi @ 9:21/mi avg, Big 5
Whelp, today was the day I lost the 8min/mi speedwork pace. Oh well. It took 29w of pregnancy, 94% humidity, and 1200m repeats to do it. :) I did manage to hold onto an 8:30/mi pace in those conditions, and felt good during all the repeats.

Friday
Did: nada
Travel day = rest day

Saturday
Did: 10.04mi @ 10:19/mi avg, Big 5
Yeah. I'm so proud of this run. It was hot. It was humid. And I was relegated to a series of 3.5mi ONBs for the duration. I had to play lots of mental games with myself today to make this happen. It started with a "just get a 5K", then "might as well get 4", then relying on my husband joining me to motivate me through another 3.5mi ONB, and finally knocking out the last 1.5 because he'd encouraged me to (and volunteered to run them with me, though i didn't end up taking him up on the offer). Hoooooooray, Florida flatness and family.

10mi done!!!

Sunday
Did: 4.37mi with stroller @ 10:36/mi avg
I almost bailed on this run, but when my husband mentioned I was going running to our little one, who promptly asked to please come running with me, I had to do it. When I asked why he wanted to come running, I got the PERFECT response:
"Because we always run together, Mommy. It's Sunday Runday!"

While having the stroller meant I had to change my planned route, it was totally worthwhile to have the company :)

Total Weekly Mileage: 33.81

Week-ending Thoughts:
Vacation is the best.
I'm so grateful to be running this much, this comfortably at 29w pregnant.
