Peachtree Training: Week 9/12 (32w Pregnant)

Week-beginning Thoughts:
It's strange to start your week and not really know what you're going to be able to accomplish, or even what reasonable plans/goals are. I think I've reached the point in pregnancy where I can't realistically plan mileage the way I have been. I don't have any plans for the week beyond 10KT-- just running for however long I feel like running whichever mornings I feel like doing so.

It's an odd sensation, this "letting go" of something that, for the past year, has been such a rock for me. I've used the daily grind of running to provide some stability when the rest of my life was out of control and unpredictable, and now I can't even tell you how many miles I'll be running this week.

Monday
Did: rest
After a tough Sat/Sun of running, my body definitely needed today off.

Tuesday
Did: 6.30mi @ 10:37/mi avg, Big 3, a few random 400m-ish jogs with munchkin
Holy yes. Low 60s, low (for ATL) humidity, and a slight breeze PLUS not having to pee at all during the 1hr+ run made today exactly what I needed to get a little confidence back and just "enjoy the run".

Spent the evening at an All-Comers track meet where I didn't run any races myself, but helped my little one with a 2x400 parent-child relay and did a couple other "sprints" around the oval and field. Pretty proud of the potato, who covered just over a mile total, smiling the entire time.

Wednesday
Did: 2.03mi @ 11:11/mi avg, Big 2
Without teammates to meet, I struggled to get up this morning. Ultimately, I reasoned with myself that I'd feel better throughout the day for having run, even if it were just a short distance. A 5K sounded too long to tackle, so I opted for an easy mile out, mile back. That was about what I could handle this morning... but I was right; I did feel better throughout the day for having run.

Thursday
Did: 10min lifting, 30min elliptical
I considered running this morning, but opted to let my body rest a bit more in hopes of having better runs on Friday and Sunday. Hit the gym instead for some lifting and elliptical-ing, which was super boring. :P

Friday
Did: 6.00mi on treadmill @ 11:00/mi, Big 2
I was SO ready for a nice, outdoor run this morning... but woke up to a 90% chance of thunderstorms for the next three hours and a nasty radar scan, which sent me to the gym treadmill. Blergh.

I didn't have any solid plans on mileage, but figured I'd just run until I wanted to be done, hopefully logging at least a 5K. After the first mile, I had to pee. UGH. So, I did. After the second mile, I also had to pee again. DOUBLE UGH. I readjusted the Gabrialla support band, and held it. By the third mile, the urge was gone. I ended up getting through six miles before I had to get off due to time constraints, but felt like I could have easily done another four. Soooo, maybe I just need to warm-up and get my body/bump in the right places in order to run distance?

Saturday
Did: 1mi walk
Committee dinner took SO LONG last night that I didn't get back to the hotel until 9:30. Ugggghhh. With another nasty, stormy forecast, I didn't set an alarm to run in the morning, but figured I'd either wake up and treadmill, or sleep until my "safety alarm" of 6:30am. Thanks to approximately three Charley horses and four bathroom breaks overnight, I didn't sleep well overnight... and ended up relying on my 6:30am.

...and I woke up to crystal clear skies and decent running weather, which I no longer had time to use. Grrrr.

Sunday
Did: 10.01mi @ 10:52/mi avg
I wasn't super confident going into this morning's run. I feel like, in the past week, I've gone from being a unicorn to being a normal pregnant runner, who's definitely impacted by the bump. To combat, I've taken (almost) every other day off from running, trying to let my body rest up a bit and recover between runs, hoping that would help.

I had another "solo" run today to start, though, again, one of my teammates volunteered to meet me at the start for accountability (before doing our own, separate workouts). The first two miles sucked. I felt uncomfortable, having to pee so frequently, and stopped to take care of business at 1.5mi. After that, though, things improved and I was actually super comfortable for the rest of my first 7mi leg. As a bonus, the weather was PERFECT: 60s, with a light breeze, overcast, and sporadic light rain.

After the first 7, my husband met me for the final 3, which was SO welcome. Another week, another double digit run done. :)

Total Weekly Mileage: 24.42

Week-ending Thoughts:

I'm not feeling so great about my lower mileage this week, and having to modify so much, but trying to focus on the positives:
  • I hit 1094.75mi run while pregnant this week, which tops last pregnancy's 1093.11... and I still have seven weeks to go. Wooo.
  • I'm still running. :)
  • I'm learning how to let go of mileage goals and just enjoy the runs I'm able to do for whatever mileage I'm able to do.
