Did: 3mi @ 9:16/mi, plus bootcamp
Wasn't planning on running today, but, when one of your training buddies texts you the night before asking if you're running because she'd like to join since she missed her Sunday run, how can you say no?
My 4:10am alarm came EARLY after the losing an hour to the time change yesterday and not getting to bed until closer to 9:30 due to a few things. Hooray, accountability partners.
I was NOT looking forward to bootcamp this morning. I've been out of it for about a month. I was sleepy. I didn't have a relaxing weekend. All sorts of excuses were in my head, but, Brandi was there, so I was too.
As soon as I set foot in the door, I felt so... comfortable. I was excited to see the instructor, excited about the workout, and just excited to be back with this great group of people-- such a stark contrast to how I felt at our other bootcamp.
Workout was great. We changed things up a little this morning. Instead of four rounds through a set of X exercises, we did each exercise for four rounds before moving onto the next. Things that were manageable the first round or two became MUCH harder by rounds three and four.
Things we did:
- double dumbbell overhead presses
- 12# didn't seem hard to start, but I was dying for some 8 pounders by the end... which didn't exist
- mat sprints
- rows with the suspension system
- had to modify by making them inclined
- box touchdowns
- elevated bar mountain climbers
- oof
- kettlebell high-pulls (12#)
- flat palm sit-ups
- jump roping... for three minutes :P
- hamstring gliders
- had to modify to one leg at a time
- 40 deadman burpees to close (I skipped the runs since it was 30 degrees and I didn't want to re-dress... plus we'd already run 3 MILES beforehand)
I left class feeling like I'd been awake for hours (owait... I had), and just super happy and proud of myself, ready to start the day... something that NEVER happened at other bootcamp.
Tuesday
Did: 6.34 @ 9:16/mi avg
9:16 seems to be my go-to average pace these days. Sweet.

Thursday
Did: 1mi WU, 2mi tempo @ 8:28/8:17, 1.5mi CD = 4.63mi @ 9:10/mi avg
The only one of us with a workout this week was Birgit, so B, C, and I all accompanied her on sidewalks instead of going to the track. B&C had easy miles scheduled, so I got to be the lucky volunteer who ran Birgit's tempo miles with her. I wasn't sure I could keep up with her, and was definitely sure that I didn't want to, but having her do the tempo miles alone wasn't something any of us would allow, so I took one for the team. It wasn't as hard as I thought it might have been, and was actually quite fun. :)
I had an awful scare for the rest of the day, though. I'd hit the top of my left foot against a curb going from the road up onto the sidewalk at one point during the run. It didn't seem like anything at the time, but, as the day wore on, my foot hurt more and more- to the point where walking was painful. Having had other previous injuries that I didn't care for appropriately turn into chronic problems, and seeing my husband unknowingly continue to run on a hairline fracture until it fully fractured during a half marathon and sent his first two tries at a marathon down the drain, I'ma bit of a hypochondriac when it comes to this sort of thing.
...so I spent the day freaking out thinking I might have broken my foot, until I had x-rays and had my sports medicine doc tell me it was just a bruise and some inflammation. Completely unnecessary, over-reactive, and ridiculous? Yes, but I've got the piece of mind I needed.

Friday
Planned: bootcampDid: yoga
I set and checked my 4:50am twice before going to bed last night... but woke up at 5:21am. WHAT? Turns out that my phone automatically updated itself in the middle of the night... but DIDN'T COMPLETE THE PROCESS, so my alarm didn't go off.
Ended up doing a good YouTube yoga for runners, but, again, missed my other 30min strength workout for a week. :P
Saturday
Did: 2.96 @ 8:35/mi avgOne of our 10KTuesday girls, C, had a time trial at a riverside 5K today, so we got the crew together and went out to cheer her on. Between parking the cars and running to the halfway point, then the finish, and back, we got in about three miles, at a pretty baller pace. :) Love love love my team!
Sunday - Publix
Scheduled: Easy, fun run... maybe around 2:05?
Did: PR. Oops.
Race report coming tomorrow.
