Thanksgiving Half: Week 8/11

Week-beginning Thoughts:
I feel like I haven't run in forever. Not doing a long run on Saturday is suuuuuper weird.

Monday
Scheduled: rest
Did: rest
Yep. That's about it.

Tuesday
Scheduled: 8mi ONB
Did: 1mi WU, 6mi PRO, 1mi CD = 8.27mi @ 8:50/mi avg, Big 5
Oof. This one was tough. I blame poor nutrition from Monday (I ate good food, but woman cannot live on omelets, carrots, and superhero muffins alone), hills, and struggling to get back to normal.

Splits:
10:17
-
9:33
8:54
8:22
8:07
8:02
7:38
-
9:40

Not too bad, but definitely felt harder than it ought to have.

Wednesday
Scheduled: 5mi
Did: 3.26mi @ 9:12/mi avg, Big 5
The race I'm currently signed up for is on Sunday and offers a 5K and a half marathon distance. I'm signed up for the 5K, but now find myself wondering if the course will be worth racing or if it'll be impossible to PR with all the hills in the area. Instead of leaving it all to chance, I recruited a teammate to come scout the course with me today.

I could've done 5mi today, but really just felt like slacking off. :P

The course definitely had some hills, but nothing that gave us pause on our easy jog of it. I've decided that it might not be a PR course, but it's worth racing to see where I'm at on this shorter distance stuff.

Thursday
Scheduled: 1mi WU, 6x400m hill/300m tempo, 1mi CD
Did: 6.11mi with stroller @ 8:59/mi avg, Big 5
Opted against a hard workout because I really wanted some stroller time with my little one (we haven't had much time together with all my work/travel stuff the past few weeks). We went to the greenway mid-morning and I was a bit demoralized by how hard the easy mileage felt. I kept thinking my legs would warm-up soon, but they never did. I haven't felt fast since Chicago. Blergh.

Friday
Scheduled: strength + yoga
Did: 12min strength + 10min yoga
Easy circuit today.

3x30s/5s:
push-ups
glute bridges
penguin waddles
side plank with hip drop (each side)
back plank with leg raises
tricep dips

plus yoga

Saturday
Scheduled: 14 easy
Did: 8mi with hill strides @ 8:43/mi avg, Big 5
I really wanted a long run today, but doing double digits the day before wanting to race a 5K was not a good idea. I knew I should be doing something like 2-3mi easy with a few strides.

...so I compromised with myself and did eight miles with strides. Heheh. Not the best way to set myself up for success, but it's not like setting myself up for success has really paid off much lately. So why stress about planning, right?

Sunday
Scheduled: 5mi easy

Total Weekly Mileage: 32.53mi

Week-ending Thoughts:
Life is good. I think that's the first time I've had that thought all year.
