Marathonnnnnnnnnnnn Training

When I decided to sign up for a marathon (back in September), I was regularly running 35-40mpw and yearning for some longer LSDs on the weekends.

Weeeeee, Atlanta Marathon

Now that it's time to start training, the weather is colder, and I'm less excited about the long mileage. :P Oh well, spring will come again, right?

I calculated I could maintain my typical long runs of 10-13mi through Christmas, and then I'd need to be hitting 14+. With Thanksgiving over and done, it's time to start thinking about how, exactly, I want to train for the full. I don't need to add mileage until Christmas, but I probably ought to figure out what I'm doing between now and then. :)

I chose the Atlanta Marathon because it had easy logistics, a decent race date, and a course that would made training for any sort of time goal a real challenge. Self-sabotage seemed to be a perfect way to ensure this training to be nothing more than reflective, fun, and meditative mileage. ;)

With that in mind, I've found an incredibly minimal plan on the interwebs that should get me there. Mileage ranges from 26 to 44mpw, and there's zero prescribed workouts (though I'll certainly be doing some). I like having the flexibility and freedom to modify the base mileage to be whatever I need or want in a given week.

So, here's to week 3 of 18.

MARATHONNNNNNNNNNNN :D
