C Mile Plan: Week 6/6

Week-beginning Thoughts:

Blergh. Not sure how this is going to go... Maybe this is more than allergies? Throat has a lump and my head is all floofy-feeling.

Monday
Scheduled: 3-5mi easy or rest
Did: yoga
Woke up, couldn't fathom any sort of intense activity or light run, so I did some yoga. Spent the rest of the day trying to determine if I was sick or not, eating a ton of crackers, and generally feeling blergh. Told the 10KT crew that I wasn't setting an alarm for the morning and would join them only if my body woke up in time and felt good enough to run.

Tuesday
Scheduled: 10KT, easy
Did: 6.32mi @ 9:35/mi avg, 3.5mi walk
Woke up at 4:30am, didn't feel great, but definitely felt like a nice easy run might be what I needed, so I got up and out. The run felt fine, but I crashed hard afterwards, napping for about an hour before work while my husband did drop-off. Starting to think a mile trial on Thursday isn't the best idea....

Did a walk in the afternoon, and felt fine aftewards. I wish I'd either be sick or well instead of this in-between....

Wednesday
Scheduled: 2-3mi easy or rest
Did: LIIFT4 W8 chest/back, 2mi run @ 9:13/mi avg, 3.6mi walk
I'm still not sure if I'm in time trial shape, but my easy run this morning felt good, and I didn't have any throat/head issues or fatigue throughout the day. Right now, I'm planning on going to warm-up with my teammate, and then we'll see how the first 800m shakes out. If I'm anywhere near 3:00, I'll keep going. If I'm not, I'll bug out and try again after a few more days of recovery from whatever this is...

Thursday
Scheduled: 2mi WU, MILE TRIAL, 2mi CD
Did: Mile Trial = 5.72mi total @ 8:34/mi avg, LIIFT4 Legs
Meh. Considering how I spent the rest of the day, it's 100% certain I didn't push hard enough this morning. I mean, really, who does a HIIT/weight-lifting session focused on beating up your legs the same day as a mile time trial?

weights outside while kids play = awesome

Also talked a lot with Coach and decided to say today was literally just a "see where you're at" day, repeat the last two weeks of the program, and have a real go at the end of the month... with more focus and intention.

Friday
Scheduled: rest or 3-5mi easy
Did: LIIFT4 Arms + Total Body HIIT, 2.7mi walk
Up at 3am with baby... then with cats... then baby... Ugh. Got in the last two workouts of this 8-week LIIFT4 session, and walked at lunch to get some new library books. Definitely don't feel like I ran a hard mile yesterday, though.

Saturday
Scheduled: 8mi long run
Did:  8.20mi @ 9:22/mi avg + 3.5mi stroller walk
Early morning easy run (so weird to not be running 10mi-- 8mi just feels so short), followed by a stroller walk later in the day because someone didn't want to nap...

Sunday
Scheduled: 15min WU, 8x  2min @ 5K or 10K pace/1min recovery, 15min CD
Did: as scheduled with double stroller + a little extra = 6.54mi @ 9:25/mi avg
OMG, I don't know how I ran a half marathon with the double. I mean, i know my kids have grown, but seriously. Oooof. I liked that today's workout was probably the easiest of the entire cycle, and I felt good taking my kids with me because I had a little wiggle room in pace (and the fact that I'd also just done a hard mile three days earlier).

Splits weren't bad:
8;13/mi
7:58/mi
8:14/mi
7:39/mi
8:01/mi
8:07/mi
7:46/mi
7:41/mi

Total Weekly Mileage: 28.9

Week-ending Thoughts:
  • Looking forward to another two weeks of work and, hopefully, a more intentional next "race"
