Thanksgiving Half: Week 3/11

Week-beginning Thoughts:
Crap. I woke up with a bit of a bump in my throat, and my kid is super congested. Guess I'm getting sick this week... weeeee!

Whelp, today went just swimmingly. Started feeling blergh in the morning, and was rocking a 100+ degree fever and sore throat before 4pm.

Dead in bed with higher fever and sorer throat.

Went to doctor. Diagnosed with strep throat. Proceeded to be dead in bed again.

Thursday

Did: nada
Showered. Ate real food. Felt marginally human. Watched the entire Fifty Shades trilogy.

Friday
Scheduled: strength + yoga
Did: nada
Went to work. Felt slightly more human.

Saturday
Scheduled: 11mi easy
Did: 4.09mi with stroller @ 8:37/mi, 1.75mi walk, 2.5mi walk, 1.6mi run/walk
Though I felt better this morning, I also knew better than to go from lying in bed dying all week to running 9mi of hills with my training group. I sent my husband in my stead and opted to take the morning leisurely. If I felt like running, I'd go run with the stroller. If I felt like sitting around the house, I'd sit around the house. This was a good call.

I ended up heading out with the potato around 7:30 and choosing to take him downtown for a run somewhere we never get to go: The Beltline. I told myself do NOT look at your watch, run 100% by feel, keep it easy, and walk when you feel like walking for 3-4 miles.

It ended up going really well. In fact, it wasn't until we'd gotten home and I looked at my pace that I realized HOW well. I'd done a mid-8 with the stroller as my easy pace. Guys, I'm officially a "fast". (tapering for a week probably had a lot to do with that... lol)

Went on to run/walk a bit through the park to find the playground, and then turned the day into a "Mommy and Me" excursion, with walks through the zoo and greenway. Total mileage exceeded 10, and I'm proud that so much of that was walking... and that I feel great.

Sunday
Scheduled: 5mi easy
Did: 5mi with stroller @ 9:23/mi avg, Big 5
Nice easy run with the stroller today to get back "on the wagon".

Total Weekly Mileage: 9.63 (no, really)

Week-ending Thoughts:
This was already going to be a "no speed" week while I let that PF stuff get better. Might as well have double-dipped if I was going to have to take a week off to be sick this season.

...also, I did a thing:
more commentary on this coming in a future blog
