Week-beginning Thoughts:
So, I finished MBFA last week. While I haven't done any measurements, I do feel like the past six weeks of strength training and nutritional changes have yielded positive progress. My weight is back down in my comfortable range, clothes are fitting better, and, most importantly, I feel strong, healthy, and proud. Now, I've just gotta keep the momentum.
I think I'm ready to go into another mile training cycle, and have started looking at a few different plans, including one written by a teammate :)
Monday
Did: 2mi lunch walk
Cold + drizzly, but my new reflective and bright rain jacket kept me cozy.
Tuesday
Did: 6.32mi @ 9:19/mi avg, LIIFT4 Chest/Triceps
Ran with the team this morning, then did a lifting workout in the evening.
Wednesday
Did: 5.07mi @ 9:14/mi avg
Bumped our normal Thursday run up a day to avoid 39 degrees, 10mph, and rain. Felt good.
Thursday
Did: 4.1mi treadmill @ 6.0mph, 2hr treadmill walking (~6.75mi)
39 degrees, windy, and raining = treadmill morning. Today was hard. I ended up struggling a lot with working out and only doing it to eat more, which is kind of a bad philosophy to have, but this time of the month I want to munch everything...
Friday
Did: LIIFT4 Week 1 Day 2, 2mi walk
Lifted in the morning, and then walked at lunch. Struggled a bit with intake.
Saturday
Did: 10.06mi @ 9:23/mi avg, LIIFT4 Week 1 Day 3
Weeee! I did an early morning run with my teammate on an entirely brand-new-to-us route. So much fun!
Liifted with my munchkin over lunch. I hadn't been super set on continuing to weight train through this next mile training cycle, but I think I'm actually sold on continuing with LIIFT4 throughout. It's "only" four days a week, which is a big break from the seven-days-a-week MBF/MBFA programs I was doing. Seems do-able?
Sunday
Did: 6.06mi stroller run @ 9:13/mi avg, bike ride
Opted out of tempo today since I just wasn't feeling it, but enjoyed a longer stroller run with the baby. Thought about doing the fourth day of LIIFT4 this week, but I had other stuff I wanted to do during baby's nap (like this blog), and we're planning a family bike ride in the afternoon, which seemed good enough.
Total Weekly Mileage: 31.65
I had a tentative goal to get over 30mpw before starting this new mile plan. Happy to report I hit that.
Week-ending Thoughts:
- So, I've decided to go with a training plan written by one of our teammates for my next mile effort. It's been really cool having her work through the details with us, and I'm very excited to get started (and a bit nervous). The general plan is:
- Mon: rest or 3-5mi easy (do the other on Friday)
- Tues: 10KT with striders or hill repeats
- Wed: rest
- Thurs: trackwork (normally 7-8mi total, no pre-repeat tempo like Nick's plan had, but more strong repeats that scare me)
- Fri: 3-5mi easy or rest (whatever I didn't do Monday)
- Sat: 10-12mi long
- Sun: fartlek variations
- I've got my nutrition lined up and planned out for the week too. I've finally hit (consistently) the number on the scale that I was hoping to see, which is nice, especially since it accompanies my clothes fitting well, and a general sense of confidence that I'd been missing this past holiday season. Now it's just a little more maintenance mode/coasting.
- cool to have friends with such relevant expertise.
