MBFA: Week 2/3

Week-beginning Thoughts:

I'm feeling really good about nutrition/workouts and just generally making progress on my goals. Last week's nutrition consult empowered me with three key takeaways:
  • my actual RMR
  • recommendations of what to eat when (and how to modify if my workout falls in a different part of my day) based on current snacks/meals/habits
  • healthy limits for calorie deficit
I'm definitely feeling ready to take on this challenge and fuel my body to the best of my ability to meet my goals this year:

2021: the year of the six-minute mile

Monday
Did: MBFA Lower Burn, MBFA Core Advanced
Definitely feeling yesterday's tempo in my legs- oof! I didn't go as hard as I probably could have today in the workouts, but kept focused on my form. My left knee has been a bit funky with all these lunges and jump lunges, and I'm having to really focus on making sure I'm doing these exercises correctly.

Tuesday
Did: 6.35mi @ 9:27/mi avg, MBFA Upper Burn
It was SO cold this morning. 30 degrees with 17mph winds... for a "feels like" of 19. I wore calf socks, two layers of tights, Underarmour base layer, jacket, vest, hat, and gloves... and it was good.

Wasn't planning on doing any MBFA today, but had a 30min delay on an evening meeting, and opted to use the time to workout.

Wednesday
Did: MBFA Core, ~7-8mi of walking/treadmill walking
I split today's Core workout into two parts (one before drop-off and one after drop-off, but before work). Maybe that's why it didn't feel as hard as it should have?

Walked with husband at lunch, and then took a few conference calls from the 'mill in the afternoon.

Thursday
Did: 5.01mi @ 9:17/mi avg, MBFA Bonuses (10min Upper + 10min Lower)
Blissful night's sleep. :)  Ran with my teammate in the morning, had a great day of work, and finished the evening with a few EMOM workouts.

Friday
Did: MBF Total Body
Ermagerd. Last night was a disaster. Baby had a fever, which meant I got, like, zero sleep... Uggghh. Zombie mode.

Fit in a short, intense workout over a much-delayed nap in the afternoon, and considered life a success today.

Saturday
Did: 10.37mi @ 9:08/mi avg, MBFA Dynamic Stretch
Thank goodness. Baby is feeling better and slept through the night (well, until 4:30am at least). Had my training partner create the route today, and really loved just following her lead through some new places.

Sunday
Did: 5.21mi total stroller run @ 8:59/mi avg (10min tempo @ 7:48/mi avg), MBFA Power Ignite
Brought my older one along on today's tempo. Felt sluggish to start, and cold throughout, but managed a great pace pushing 50+ pounds!

Was NOT into today's MBFA workout, but got it done... with frozen feet.

Hello, Sunrise.

Total Weekly Mileage: 26.94

Week-ending Thoughts:
  • It's been a bit of an adjustment week on the diet front, but I feel like I've gotten my feet under me and fallen into a good routine. I'm able to make better choices in the morning, feel confident that I'm giving my body what it needs (but no more), and still making progress towards my goals.
  • I loved having warm minestrone soup for my mid-morning snacks this week, and will make another big batch of that this weekend.
  • Hormones, work restructuring, and some big life events have made it harder to "stay strong" and not eat back all the calories from my workouts, but I'm loving this new mindset of "here's what you eat on short workout vs long workout days" and not focusing on workouts earning/burning calories to "eat back"
