(not my) Marathon Week

Week-beginning Thoughts:

What comes next? With my primary training partner headed to Germany for Berlin this week, I'm on my own more or less to do whatever I want. I think I'll take the week and just do whatever I feel like each day. Maybe I'll do some lifting. Maybe a long run on Friday? Maybe I'll loaf around and just let my body and mind recover from a pretty intense last few days (months?) of STUFF.

Monday
Did:  three full push-ups
Yep. That was it.

Tuesday
Did: 6.31mi @ 9:54/mi avg
Slow, humid 10KT.

Wednesday
Did: MBF Week 1, Day 1: Lower Body
This was nice. I haven't lifted in forever, and definitely felt the burn... with 10 and 15lb dumbbells. :/

Thursday
Did: 5.18mi @ 10:08/mi avg
Oooof. Not lifting in forever = SO SORE ALL OVER. This run was our first day of beautiful fall weather, but my pace did NOT reflect that.

Friday
Did: 8.10mi @ 9:42/mi avg, MBF Week 1: Day 3: Upper Body
Treated myself to an upper body workout (lower half is still SPENT from Wednesday), and could already feel the muscles breaking down and stressing in the first set with a 15lb weight... Oof, I'm so out of lifting shape. :P

Enjoyed a nice solo run for no prescribed distance or time-- just running wherever and however far I wanted.

Saturday
Did: 4.03mi @ 8:45/mi avg
Wanted to get a run in before the kids woke up today, so I went out solo. Wasn't planning on anything, but felt GOOD for the first time in two weeks, so I opted for a progression run. First mile was a 9:40, and I figured I'd slowly tick down to just under a 9:00 at the end of the four.

Nope.

9:40, 9:06, 8:27, 7:47

That felt GOOD. Really good. I'm finally starting to recover physically from my illness, my marathon, and even from the initial profound deafness of SSHL. So grateful to be improving, even if it's incomplete.

Isn't that just the prettiest progression pace chart ever?

Sunday
Did: 6.28mi @ 8:52/mi avg
"Joined" my training partner for 10K of her Berlin marathon this morning. Kind of cool to think that we were running at the same time, despite being an ocean apart. She was also running a good bit faster than me.

Total Weekly Mileage: 29.9 (seriously?)

Week-ending Thoughts:
  • Grateful for running, and for a bit of improvement on the SSHL front
  • Enjoying lifting again. I'll probably try to do this 2-3 times a week for the foreseeable future
