Pre-Training

Week-Beginning Thoughts:

Feeling cute, might start a training plan soon?

Monday
Scheduled: walk or MBF
Did: 2mi stroller @ 9:48/mi
Had a bit of a sore/dry throat after my site visit (crawling in ceilings) this afternoon, but wanted SOME sort of workout. Offered to run with my littlest, and, when they were excited to do so, I opted for a short out and back on the greenway.

Tuesday
Scheduled: 10KTuesday
Did: 6.3mi @ 9:13/mi avg
Thought I might be getting sick this morning. Slept a ton, but not quality, woke up with a sore throat and fatigued body, so I skipped. Felt better by the afternoon, and decided to fit in a 10KTuesday after work before chorus.

I was thrilled by my "easy pace" and great weather for a fun, exploratory route around a new are in the metro ATL.

Wednesday
Scheduled: 5K?
Did: 4.06mi @ 9:21/mi avg
Sore-ish right arch after yesterday's kinda faster than usual run. Blergh. Rolled it on a ball before bed.

Thursday
Scheduled: Indicator Run
Did: 5.89mi @ 8:54/mi avg (3K : 14:35)
I was nervous leading into this run, not really because of the trial aspect, but more because my right arch has been kinda bugging me since... oh, January. It's been fine enough for easy runs, but generally flares up after any sort of faster miles, like Tuesday.

I felt it between the 4th and 5th lap, really bad, and considered stopping, but didn't. I adjusted my stride and it went away a little, but it was definitely on my mind for the duration of the run, and I didn't run as fast as I could've because of it.

The indicator was about a minute slower than my usual, but reflects not only my lower fitness, but also the nagging PF-ish "injury".

Still, it looks like I can probably hope for a sub-50 Peachtree... if I can train.

I iced my foot up all morning, took ibuprofen, and made an appointment with a PT/gait analysis place to see if we can figure out what's going wrong. I'm grateful to be healthy enough for 30 easy miles a week, but am not satisfied with easy. I want to get back to training for speed.

Friday
Scheduled: rest
Did: 2x1hr walks
Foot felt better today, and I put real tennis shoes on and did a few walks. I'm hoping that swapping the long run to Sunday will give me time to heal (haha) up. I won't do speedwork until I've gotten this PF thing resolved, but hope I can still get mileage in. It's weird, because this doesn't feel like normal PF-- it's like a strained arch or something because it's so high up in my foot. Hoping for some solid recovery and the ability to do at least high mileage easy runs...

Saturday
Scheduled: 3mi easy
Did: 4.53mi @ 10:13/mi avg with stroller
TP had a race today, so we agreed to swap long run days. This was a bit of a blessing since I didn't really want to run long without having tested my foot ahead of time. I took the morning "off", but soon realized that, without running and with worrying about my foot, I am inpatient and incredibly CRANKY.

Took the little one out for a stroller run, and my foot felt fine enough. I still feel like there's a decided difference between how I land on each foot (which isn't anything new), but nothing painful. I kept the pace slow, but also thought before I went out I had 4-5mi planned, so I ensured I got the distance. Oh well. Looks like I'll be a little over this week... or I can call tomorrow's run early.

Sunday
Scheduled: 8-10mi easy, pick up the pace the last 1-2mi if I want
Did: 8.09mi @ 9:51/mi avg
Slept in and started late today (~6am). Took advantage of the sunlight with a run along a new-to-me stretch of the greenway. I could've run the full 10mi, but decided to be kind to myself and take the break when it was handed to me.

Total Weekly Mileage: 31.0

Week-ending Thoughts:

Irked about my arch acting up during/after any sort of speed, but grateful I can still run easy miles pain-free. Guess that training plan is out the window until I can resolve this...
