Week-beginning Thoughts:
I'm not running a marathon this year... At least, I don't think I am. My training partner is, though, so that means I'm playing support and running as much of her training with her as I can. If we get into the 20+ mile weeks and I'm still going strong, I might reconsider. At this point, though, I'm not "into it" enough to say "WEEEE, MARATHON".
Also, today is Friday, so we'll see how much of this week's training I remember :P
Monday
Did: nada
I really didn't do anything today? Weird.
Tuesday
Did: 10KTuesday @ 9:25/mi avg
Got up early, did a truncated lifting session pre-run, and then finished wtih MBF Week 1 Day 1 afterwards-- leg buurrrrrrrrrn.
Wednesday
Did: 2.54mi stroller run @ 9:16/mi avg, MBF W1D3 (upper body)
I should've run this morning, but I thought it would be nice to "get s--t done" instead. Nope. Ended up working out at lunch (yay) and fitting in a quick stroller run post dinner.
Thursday
Did: 6.21mi @ 8:40/mi avg, MBF W1D2 (core), 4mi walk
So, training buddy had a "solid run" on her plan-- 8:45-9:05/mi. We haven't had a run where we were aiming for that kind of pace in a loooooooong time and I might have overcompensated. Oops.
Bright side: that run was hard, but it was harder than it should have been. This bodes well for future "solid runs".
Friday
Did: 5.04mi @ 9:07/mi avg
Guess our "easy" pace is more like what our "solid" pace should be. Whoopsies.
Saturday
Did: 10.31mi @ 8:51/mi avg
Yeah, that pace is right. This was another "solid run" assignment. After a 9:40 warm-up mile, we settled into a really consistent 8:50/mi pace... until mile 5, when we started creeping into the 8:30s... and stayed there (maybe that's why we both agreed that miles 8 and 9 felt harder). Whoops.... again. We even tried to slow down the last mile as a "cool-down" and only made it to 8;56.
Still, really cool to see how comfortable this pace can actually be. I wouldn't have gone out and run that fast without someone telling me to, but it wasn't hard. It just had to be a more intentional run than we normally do.
Sunday
Did: 6mi (partially with double stroller) @ 9:03/mi avg
Fun family run at the river today. Might do some lifting/core stuff later, but probably going to skip it because I braided my hair and put on real clothes after my post-run shower.
Total Weekly Mileage: 36.5
Week-ending Thoughts:
I'm intrigued by this "solid run" concept and think it'll work well for me. While I don't have a marathon planned, I am signed up for the Women's Half in October (deferred from last year). I'd originally planned on stroller running that for fun, but maybe I'll try to PR the half. If I'm running this well, there's no real reason not to...
